I did ships for 4 years off and on and I ran into this problem sometimes. When the chart was all messed up I just hoped the number of bars coincided with the band and just listened to the band. In a way its liberating but a little nerve racking. My favorite was having a completely different chart than the band and finding out at the end when you know you have to stop (the band has resolved) but your chart says your in the middle of the last section of a tune. If this happens it sucks, but, i learned how to navigate crazy fly shit charts in an accepting environment. As long as you dont suck they'll understand. But you gotta know your styles, have rock solid time, and be musical.

Sounds like a crap cruise line. by: Anonymous
In two years of cruise ships I never ran into that.
What line and ship were you on?
Most of the charts I read were VERY well written.
Don't let that one cruise discourage you man.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises are the two biggest lines and put the most money into their entertainment. You should have good experiences with them.
